War of 1812 Bicentennial
Art Contest

This annual contest ran for 5 years (2009 to 2013)
and was sponsored by the
Monroe County War of 1812
Bicentennial Steering Committee, and

T
he Monroe Art League,
with special thanks to the
Monroe County Library System for hosting the shows.

The goal of this contest was to develop new artwork
related to the
War of 1812 River Raisin Battlefield and
The War of 1812 Bicentennial.

By entering this competition, artists gave the Bicentennial Steering Committee and/or
River Raisin National Battlefield Park permission
to use their artwork in any appropriate way including advertising, brochures, postcards, etc. 

Artist credit will be given whenever used.

 

 

 

The Art Show winners were exhibited on a tour of selected branches of the Monroe County Library System.

After the tour ended the artwork was on display at the
Battlefield National Park Visitors Center.

Selected pieces were purchased for the
River Raisin National Battlefield Park art collection
and are on a rotating display at the visitor center.
